What the 12 checks cover

Each question maps one ISO 9001:2015 clause area to the record an auditor actually asks for. Answer honestly — “we do it but it’s not written down” scores differently than “documented and I can show it.”

  1. Documented system (4.4 / 7.5) — Can you hand an auditor written procedures (SOPs) for how your shop actually works?
  2. Calibration (7.1.5) — Can you produce a calibration record for any gage or caliper in under a minute?
  3. Training records (7.2) — Can you prove every operator is trained and qualified for the jobs they run?
  4. Traceability (8.5.2) — Can you trace a finished part back to its material lot and the operator who ran it?
  5. Receiving inspection (8.4 / 8.6) — Do you inspect incoming material and verify certs (CoCs) before it hits the floor?
  6. First article (8.5.1 / AS9102) — Do you run a First Article Inspection on a new part before you run production?
  7. Corrective action (10.2) — When a customer complains, do you have a documented root-cause and corrective-action process?
  8. Supplier control (8.4) — Do you keep an approved-supplier list and some way of monitoring your suppliers?
  9. Internal audit (9.2) — Do you run an internal audit (a dry run) before your certification or customer audit?
  10. Management review (9.3) — Does leadership hold a documented review of quality metrics at least yearly?
  11. Work instructions (7.5) — Do operators have clear work instructions they actually follow at the machine?
  12. Project quality plan (ITP) — If you do project or contract work, do you issue an Inspection & Test Plan?
